YPN is part of the Dutch Society for Precision Engineering and aims to bring young and enthusiastic engineers in the field of precision technique together. A major part is the organization of visits to interesting companies that are free of charge.

On the 30st of March 2017, the YPN has planned a visit to the Dutch branch of HEIDENHAIN, located in Ede.

It is possible to join a warm dinner buffet where you can enjoy Bavarian delicacies from the German parent company.


DR. JOHANNES HEIDENHAIN GmbH is a manufacturer of precision measurement and control equipment. Their technology is utilized in high-precision motors, motion control and machining systems worldwide.


Preliminary Program

13:30 – 14:00 Welcome
14:00 – 16:00 Presentation about the possibilties & limits of encoders: “The deeper you go, the better it gets” (including break)
16:00 – 17:00 Break and tour with demo’s
17:00 – 17:30 Case: “Measurement of position using a ‘band-encoder/ring-encoder'” + Q&A
17:30 – <19:00 Dinner: warm buffet (optional)
